That really fit in well with Soft Machine's first. It also reminded me a bit of Sweet Thursday. Great absurdist/intellectual art pop.

Peace!

Thanx for asking Art, nice assessment of the Kevin Ayers album which was featured in our AfterHours on 5/5/07 (made really good listening for 1:00 am.) EMI reissued the album on CD in England in 2003. I picked up a copy at Brass City Records in Waterbury, CT last month. The album is from 1969 and is called Joy Of A Toy which is also a song from the first Soft Machine album.
The first time I listned to the album was while I played it during the AfterHours last week and I must say that I was really impressed - especially with the entire second half.

Hell man, I have now recently acquired an copy of the Ayers album, Shooting At The Moon. Is credited to Kevin Ayers & The Whole World.
Decidedly harder, heavier and downright atonal at times.
Will be featured in an upcoming AfterHours segment. Perhaps on 4/28/09 which will likely be happening here - http://www.splatterbox.us:5110
