What's your biggest/most thrilling find?

What has blown your mind just by turning up in a box of 45's or LPs?

When I found a white label copy of Zoot Money & the Big Roll Band doing Big Time Operator on the Epic label, I did a little dance.

Suddenly, Sweeney!

Okay, this isn't a chance find, but it was a thrill never the less. I just won a copy of the first Sweeney's Men album in an auction at Jerry's Records!

I never thought I'd actually see a copy on the original Transatlantic label even if it is an early 70's reissue with a different cover.

It's still pretty cool.

Kathy & Carol

This is one I found for Jim--he'd heard Kathy & Carol on an Elektra folk music comp, and knew they'd cut an album in 1965, but he couldn't track down a copy.

One day, I was Jerry's, and found a copy. Still sealed.

That was a good scene, man.

Indeed!
I'd been looking for a copy of that Kathy & Carol album for about 15 years. For Joe to have come across a sealed copy... and for cheap!

Anyway, 2 things come immediately to mind for me, both found in the back room at Double Decker Records in Allentown, Penna.
Sifting thru boxes of 45s in the back room I found a clean copy of a record by The Tokens on the Gary Records label - they only had one thing on this label, it's a very scarce record, priced around the $100 mark in the collectors guides - my price? 33 cents!

Also scored a copy of "Boil The Kettle Mother" by The Id - scary psych/punk from '67. Again, my price - 33 cents.
Seems that the owner could care less about his 45s. No matter what I find, it's 3 for a dollar.

Rockin'_Art_Lewis

Karl Richey's eponymous and only album, before he seemingly dissappeared from the Earth.
Another goody was the A&M reissue of Humble Pie's "Town And Country"/"Safe As Yesterday" double set.
Both at Goodwill for a buck a piece! Razz
