Genesis (West Coast Psych)Found their L.P. "In The Beginning" (Mercury SR 61175) at Goodwill for the princely sum of $1.00. G.
For all the hype and copies selling for a C note on the web, the album does have it's moments. Unfortunately, when it's bad, it's BAD! Somebody should've shot themselves over that cover of "Gloomy Sunday".
The stand-outs are "Angeline", with a riff (and lyrics) reminiscent of "Foxey Lady", a downright charming (Awww.) version of Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne"
and a maxi size freak out in the form of "World Without You".
A good listen, but not worth the exorbitant sums being charged for the privilege. Wait for the reissue on Fallout, coming up next month.

Beware - word on the street is that reissues on Fallout & Radioactive are bootlegs!
Compressed audio quality and all.
I'm STILL looking for someone to properly remaster & re-issue Fifty Foot Hose...

Good advice, Jim. I was unaware of that angle.
The original vinyl sounds a bit over- compressed. Typical late '60's stuff for the label. Same sonic mish-mash as the Electric Prunes stuff.

Yea, don't get me wrong, it's not like anything keeps me from purchasing a release on Radioactive or Fallout. But, beware to all you audiophiles out there who care!
