12/08/07 show

The Crumbo Mudley! Laughing
The Beatles should have expanded that into a single. Could have had "All I Want For Christmas Is A Bottle" on the flip.

Peace!

I didn't really get it

Art, I...I didn't really get it.  Is this some type of inside hip joke?

But I did get this on the 12/8/07 show:

POLKA !   A great sound not often heard even on the lost discs genre.

JUDY AND THE DUETS !    A perspective on Beatlemania least we never forget.

NUDE JOHN FOR PEACE !  Interesting discussion and a lost Lennon tune.

BEST LYRICS OF THE NIGHT !   "took a tour with Lucy".

CHICK PIC WITH IMAGINATION !  Just imagine Chesty shakin and a stompin.

BEST RIFF OF THE NIGHT !   the Head over Heals beat.

Well, JJJ, The Crumbo Mudley was sort of a "blink and you missed it" kind of deal. Several deliberately off-key Beatles tunes and "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.
Best riff of the night is a toss-up between "Watch Your Step" and "Who Stole The Kishka".  Laughing
I've got a soft spot for Eddie Blazonczyk and the Versatones, myself. Eddie is the originator of Chicago style "Push Polka", which is a lot closer to Cajun music than European or Mexican Polkas. Love his translations of American Pop hits into Polish!  Track down his "Something A Little Bit Different" L.P. on the Bel-Aire label, if you can. It's sort of Polka's answer to "Revolver". Very Happy
Now I just have to imagine Chesty dancing......MMMMMM! MMMMMMM!

Peace!

Thanks Art.  Now I get it....I think.

And thanks for the tip on the cool Polka album.  Maybe when JimE. see's that the cooler members of his audience like Polka music he will come up with a Polka Spectacular show.  That is, after he finishes the Dylan Spectacular THAT HE HAS PROMISED US FOR TWO YEARS.

The Dylan Polka Experience! Laughing
That would be..hmmm...interesting.  Complete with the ultra-rare "Lay Lady Lay Oberek" outtake from The Basement Tapes, Part 2. Who knew that Richard played a mean concertina?!

Peace!

Yea, what I thought was brilliant about Art's initial post was his reference to The Bootles... wasn't there a girl group who put out a record called "All I Want For Christmas is a Beatle"? and they were called The Bootles? or The Bottles? or something like that. Dunno if I have that one, or if I've just seen it around.
As for polka records, we have a small section within the "dance craze" genre of 45s that are all polkas. We have some rather interesting ones at that, but of course they all sound like, well, polkas...
I'll definitely work a few more of them into future shows now that I know some of our more fab listeners are prone to diggin' them!

The Beatles actually did "All I Want For Christmas Is A Bottle" as a parody on a BBC radio show, in late '63. The original was recorded by Dora Bryant, for Fontana rec's. around that time.
In the same vein as Bonnie Joe Mason's (Cher, actually) "I Love You Ringo" and about a half-dozen other "I want a Beatle for some holiday or another" discs. No "I Want Hari Georgeson For Diwali" songs out there, unfortunately. Crying or Very sad  Laughing I guess we'll have to stick with "Ding Dong"!
The Rainbow record was intriguing. I think I've only heard that once before. Was under the mis-conception that it came out on M.G.M., not Roulette. Ya live, ya learn.

Peace!

Ah, yesch. I was thinking of "I'll Let You Hold My Hand" by The Bootles.
& yea, man, that record by Rainbo (no 'w' - hey, it WAS the 60s...) for 33 cents from a guy who just didn't care!
It sure is on the Roulette label.

Thanks for enjoying my pick last week, guys. It makes it even more fun to know that you're all imagining me shakin' & stompin'!

You're very welcome!
I was kind of imagining it like the scene in "The Producers" when Bialistock hires the Swedish secretary. Her first duty is to spin some groovy music and give it the Go-Go Girl treatment. Ever since the days of VHS, I've loved to watch that bit in slo-mo. Laughing
Yep! I'm a dog. Twisted Evil
