For you Canadian rock fans, Sundazed is releasing the Ugly Ducklings album Somewhere Outside in October.
It's going to be vinyl only!

Well, it's been a few weeks since I picked up my copy of this on Sundazed's BeatRocket imprint, and I just gotta say:

FANTASTIC!

Here are the tracks:

Side 1
1. Nothin’
2. Do What You Want
3. She Ain’t No Use To Me
4. Just In Case You Wonder
5. Not For Long
6. Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore

Side 2
7. Hey Mama (Keep Your Big Mouth Shut)
8. 10:30 Train
9. That’s Just A Thought I Had In My Mind
10. Postman’s Fancy
11. Windy City (Noise At The North End)

The first side is just perfect--tough, stomping, Pretty Things influenced R&B, balanced with some gentler tracks like Just In Case You Wonder. The side opens and closes with two powerhouse numbers that are among my favorite Ducks tracks.

Side two is a bit weaker, but still good. The opener grabs you (and is the equal of the Pretties version) and the next two songs keep hold on you. Postman's Fancy is, for me, the weakest song on the lp. It just has that feel of something put together to fill out the side. It's a shame Gaslight wasn't included in its place. And while I like the instrumental, having it close the record just leaves you hanging...I'd have like one more killer track there.

Maybe if side two had switched the first and last cuts, it would have come off better for me. But this is still a great record. If you don't have it, get it!

Thanks, Joe. I had no idea that had been released. I've been looking for that album since you guys played "Gas Light" a few weeks back. DIG!
