I've been a bit preoccupied with some other musics of late, but while I was in State College recently I stopped at City Lights Records for a look around, and I noticed that Sundazed has released 2 more volumes in their Garage Beat 66 series. That brings it to seven. I've got the first five, and I think they're pretty solid collections.
There is a fair amount of crossover with some other collections, but Sundazed pulls off the feat of giving us this material in the best fidelity yet, and brings along some choice unreleased cuts to sweeten the deal.
It may not be the best comp series overall, but it's good within its theme of stuff circa 1966 (they stray a year here and there).
What do you think? What compilations do you dig? _________________ One chord is fine. Two chords are pushing it. Three chords and you're into jazz. |

One of the best things about Sundazed (and for that matter, Rhino) is their attention to detail. The sound is almost always excellent, and they provide decent liner notes and photos.
