Get this: the labels are trying to find a physical medium to sell music in that's not that dull old compact disc, and they think they may have stumbled on the answer...
Flash drives.
Wha? How is that in any way an attractive format? Unless you can plug it in to the back of your head...

This particular idea just seems silly to me. Who would want to accumulate a pile of flash drives with just a few tracks on them? Even if they provide sufficient space for other use, why bother? Would you compile everything onto a single drive and then pass around your spares?
For some reason, I'm put in mind of the "cassingle".
