Well hell, man, glad to hear it.
I picked up that Crushed Butler in a moment of weakness last summer and was a little afraid I'd be 'fraid of it at first. But very quickly, I was surprised how much I dug it in spite of its really heavy sound, man!
I would normally have thinx that sound was too heavy for me in that sorta Blue Cheer sorta way. But I've really got a little guilty sweet spot for Crushed Butler.

I could not forsee this thing happening to you...

Thanks Art!
This band reminds me of punk bands in the mid-80s who used to play around my home town of Catasauqua, Penna. Bands like The Complaints who were big in the Lehigh Valley had a similar kind of sound only without the British glaze over the vocals. If anything, I'd say Crushed Butler were something ahead of their time. Shocked

If memory serves, Crushed Butler was the first band by the amazing Jesse Hector, who'd go on to further infamy in the Hammersmith Gorillas. There's an excellent comp available of the latter band called Gorilla Got Me. Raw pre-punk rockin' anarchy from the UK!

Oh, and Jesse Hector had heroic sideburns!

YVW, Chesty!
Yep, Joe!
The Gorillas were the spawn of Crushed Butler.
I'm beginning to believe that all the stuff that gets referred to as "pre-Punk" is actually the opening salvo of the real thing. It was just that nobody had a name for what they were doing, aside from just being Hard Rock.
The MC5 and The Stooges spawned a legion of bands across Europe and the U.K. Put a snarly English guy in front of that sound and.....boom badda bing! You've got Punk.

Peace
